Overview

This book study leads students to arc or bracket through the entire book of 1 Thessalonians alongside John Piper's Look at the Book series on 1 Thessalonians.

Objectives

This book study aims to accomplish the following objectives:
  1. To equip students with the knowledge and skill to arc or bracket NT epistles faithfully.
  2. To provide students with practice and feedback that lead to increased skill in arcing and bracketing.
  3. To guide students to discover the intended message, meaning, and thought-flow of 1 Thessalonians.
  4. Learn some exegetical insights from John Piper

Format

Each week focuses on one section of 1 Thessalonians. The guided study breaks down into three sections each week:
  1. Pre-Work (about one hour): Students engage the week’s text by reading it aloud and completing an initial arc or bracket.
  2. Live Class (about two hours): Students meet via Google Meet for the live class time to discuss their arcs or brackets and study the text together.
  3. Post-Work (two hours): Students dig more deeply into the text and refine their arc.

Am I ready for this course?

Students must demonstrate a basic skill and knowledge of the Bible study method known as arcing. Students who have received a certificate in Biblearc’s Arcing or Bracketing courses qualify for the course. If you have not received a certificate, you can provide a sample of your work when you enroll.
